Oblift 2

I turned thirteen in August, 2013, meaning I could finally have my own Google account and YouTube channel. So, I decided to create a second Oblift channel, Oblift 2, under my own name—and finally under my complete control. Promising to upload similar content, I requested that my followers of Oblift 1 re-subscribe at the new location. Unfortunately, I was never able to attract the same following and, consequently, retired the account in March of the following year after producing just ten videos.

Aztec Infomercial

I uploaded this unlisted video on September 22, 2013 and it features my step-grandfather, George, and me. In seventh grade, my history class assigned us to make a commercial for the Aztec Empire, advertising any aspects of the Mesoamerican civilization that might be appealing to outsiders. (Thus, I didn't mention the practice of routine human sacrifice!) What grade do you think my video earned?

5 Different Hairdos

I uploaded this unlisted video on August 28, 2013 and it features only me. This first video on Oblift (2) explores a topic of great interest to me in seventh grade (and still to this day): my hair. The five different hairdos included the 'arrogant teenage hair flip,' the long-hair-in-the-front look, ' the slicked-back Elvis look,' the 'just-woke-up look,' and finally the 'combed-over look.' Which is your favorite?

Old Fart Basketball

I uploaded this unlisted video on March 22, 2014 and it features my step-grandfather, George, and me. This first video outside on Oblift (2) was also the final upload. Fortunately, it was a good one, showing off George's basketball skills at age 87! Although he would have missed them anyway, I regret trying to block his shots each time. Unfortunately, both he and I have since given up on the sport. Can you tell why?

Valentine's Day Love Poem

I uploaded this unlisted video on February 8, 2014 and it features my step-grandfather, George, and me. A year prior, my sixth grade English teacher created a contest for the class: compose the best Valentine's Day poem. I've always had a knack for rhyming words, so I put together a fun story about a romance between a pen and pencil. Sure enough, it won the approval of my peers and I was handed a trophy. In the video, George recites the poem. Sounds just like Walt Whitman, right?

Pointless Pen Test

I uploaded this unlisted video on January 19, 2014 and it features my step-grandfather, George, and me. Promising to make videos like those on the original Oblift channel, I produced another upload for the 'pointless' series, which already included reviews on water, paper, matzo, and toilet tissue. This time, George and I tested out one of our favorite items: pens. Unlike the others, however, this one wasn't so 'pointless.' Do you see why?
