Anthropology

I had no experience with anthropology as a formal discipline until university. Little did I know in high school that the comparative study of human societies would become my major and play the single most significant role in my college education. It's easy to mock anthropology—or sociology—or peace studies as frivolous and a waste of time. But, I suspect most who hold that view never took an anthropology course.
